The Army organaised distribution of books for the children of Mandi. In a colorful & lively ceremony Major General Paramdeep Singh Bajwa General Officer Commanding Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) handed over 100 titles of books to Mr Zaheer Rana Hakla, Tehsildar Mandi to be made available to the children of Mandi free of cost. The books included titles on current affairs, geography ,mathematics, science, biographies of personalities and competitive exams . The books will be available to the children in a specially organised reading room which has been created at Govt Higher Secondary School, Mandi from where the children of Mandi Town and surrounding areas will be able to utilize the books as per their educational needs. With this the Army intends to reach out to the youth by providing them quality education facilities with an aim to inculcate the habit of reading and empower themselves to be the building blocks of the Nation. Approx 600 people including over 200 children from various schools and madrasas attended the event and they expressed their heartfelt happiness & gratitude towards the Army for establishing such a thoughtful facility for the children of Mandi who are the future of the local civil society.
