Baramulla, 16 October: A week long campaign on“Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” was today concluded at Baramulla with MLA Baramulla Javeed hasan Beigh as the chief guest and District Development Commissioner Baramulla Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash as the guest of honor
Programme was organized by ICDS in collaboration with District administration Baramulla which marked the participation of ASHA, Anganwari and other health workers besides a huge gathering of girl students of various educational institutions of the district.
Pertinent to mention that various programmes including awareness camps were organized during the period which emphasized upon the vitality of girls education and empowerment.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA emphasized upon the need to create awareness among masses with regard to educating a girl child. He exhorted upon the significance of the campaign and said that women comprises half of the population and they should not be deprived of their basic rights including right to education. He also termed gender inequality as the threat to the stability of society and assured of every possible initiative in this regard.
While citing the example of many woman personalities, the MLA said that there is a need to provide platform for exploring the hidden talent. He stressed upon imparting moral education among students and terms it the only tool to transform society. Moreover the MLA distributed some birth certificates and prizes on the occasion.
Meanwhile various speakers spoke on the topic and highlighted the need of its dissemination. Also some cultural programmes were organized depicting the importance of the campaign wherein awards were given to the best performing students.
Among others Additional District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Qasim Wani,Additional Deputy Commissioner Farooq Ahmad Baba,Deputy director ICDS, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical officer and various others were present on the occasion.
