PULWAMA, OCTOBER 09: In a major crackdown on illegal nining, the Geology and Mining Department Pulwama, under the supervision of District Mineral Officer (DMO) Dr. Khursheed Ahmad, seized 13 dumper vehicles within the last 24 hours during a series of surprise raids across various areas of the district.
The intensified drive was conducted as part of the department’s ongoing efforts to curb unauthorized mining and transportation of minerals, following the directions of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Basharat Qayoom.
Officials said the department has stepped up enforcement measures to ensure strict adherence to mining laws and reiterated that such drives will continue under the administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards illegal mining.
Speaking to Morning Kashmir, DMO Pulwama Dr. Khursheed Ahmad said that he and his team seized 13 dumper vehicles from different areas including Galander, Patalbagh, Pampore, Lethpora, Khrew, Wuyan, and Circular Road Pulwama. “These vehicles were found involved in illegal mineral transportation and were seized on the spot,” he said.
Dr. Khursheed Ahmad added that his team remains alert 24×7 against illegal mining activities and warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found violating the law.
The department also urged the public to refrain from engaging in or supporting any form of illegal mining or mineral transportation, reiterating its message — “Be Legal, Be Safe.”
Officials reaffirmed that such operations will continue across the district to curb illegal extraction and protect natural resources.
