Army celebrates women’s day at panzgam camp

Pangam 26 Aug 2023: The Women’s Equality Day was celebrated today by the Indian Army at Panzgam Camp in North Kashmir. This year’s theme, ‘Embrace Equity,’ aimed to raise awareness, especially among young people, and provide young girls with an opportunity to express themselves and hear from accomplished women.
During the event, two competitions were held: a drawing and painting competition and a public speaking competition. 200 students from ten schools across Kachhama, Lone Harie, Kralpura, and Panzgam participated enthusiastically, creating beautiful drawings centered on women’s empowerment and discussing less-discussed issues. The students showcased remarkable creativity and oratory skills, with books awarded to the winners.
The event was graced by two distinguished women guests. Ms. Bubeena, a lawyer at the Session Court Kupwara, shared insights about her profession and inspired the young minds to overcome challenges. Mrs. Ruqaiya, a doctor at Kralpora Govt. Hospital, raised awareness about women’s personal hygiene and discussed her profession with the girl students.
Approximately 500 students and teachers from nearby schools attended the event, marveling at their peers’ creativity and confidence. They expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for organizing this event and providing a valuable platform to promote women’s empowerment. The event also saw the participation of various civil administration officials, highlighting the collaboration between civil administration and the Indian Army on national issues and the pursuit of Sustainable Development Goals. Such events reaffirm the commitment of the armed forces to nation-building.
