BADALTA J&K: J&K on mission to integrate AI for ‘Future Ready Governance’

JAMMU, OCT 09: In a visionary move towards a more efficient and responsive government, Jammu and Kashmir has embarked on a journey to integrate cutting-edge technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), into its public delivery system.

This initiative is part of a broader national roadmap known as ‘Future Ready Governance’ aimed at revolutionizing governance across India, including the Union Territory. The integration of technology promises to not only streamline government operations but also usher in a new era of citizen-driven policies and address multifaceted challenges ranging from climate change to cyber threats, as well as issues in health, education, and agriculture.

The integrated approach will help the government to develop a system of Citizen-Driven Policies and tackle growing challenges like climate change, cyber threats and issues in health, education and agriculture. 

Recently during a high-level meeting, Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha said that integration of Artificial Intelligence and new technological tools will enable to plan schemes more effectively and to make public services more efficient. He also said that technological adoption and increased human & machine collaboration will also enable informed decision-making, improve policy-making processes, target resources and services urgently required for the quality of living of citizens and speedy implementation of projects. 

LG emphasized on adopting a strategic & integrated approach to improve policy performance, address disruptive changes and manage complex future challenges. The Planning Development & Monitoring Department should be ready for the significant shift to maximize the benefits of government schemes for the citizens and minimize the risk and loss.

“The integration of technology, particularly AI, will enable the government to develop policies and services that are more responsive to the needs and aspirations of the citizens. This citizen-driven approach ensures that governance is not an abstract concept but a service that directly benefits the people”, said a senior administrative official in the Planning Department.

AI can analyze vast amounts of data to identify areas where resources are most needed. This data-driven approach will optimize resource allocation, ensuring that government schemes reach those who need them most efficiently.

As per the government officials, the prime objective of the workshop conducted recently organized by the Planning Development & Monitoring Department was to draw a roadmap integrating technological advancements into the system to create more values through good governance.

Technological adoption and increased human & machine collaboration will also enable informed decision-making, improve policy-making processes, target resources and services urgently required for the quality of living of citizens and speedy implementation of projects.

The Planning Development & Monitoring Department has been directed to prepare for the significant shift to maximize the benefits of government schemes for the citizens and minimize the risk and loss.

Besides improving policy performance, managing the complex challenges of the future and addressing disruptive changes that will occur in the future, the integrated approach will help us to develop a system of Citizen-Driven Policies, he said. LG has set a target to achieve the vision of developing J&K and India by 2047 and focus on for the next 3 years is with Agriculture and Education as two priority sectors. This forward-looking approach to governance reflects a commitment to not merely reacting to change but actively shaping the future. Lt. Governor Sinha’s call for a strategic and integrated approach is a recognition of the transformative power of technology in tackling complex and dynamic challenges.
