Chief Conservator of Forests, Kashmir, chaired a review meeting for the Sindh Forest Division to streamline Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for forest protection and fire management. Attended by officials from the Forest Department and Forest Protection Force (FPF), the session focused on implementing a robust Forest Fire Prevention Action Plan, accelerating damage case disposal, and ensuring constant patrolling of vulnerable blocks. The Chair directed the establishment of fully equipped, joint control rooms and mandated technical interventions such as fireline maintenance, humus removal, and supervised controlled burning. Beyond enforcement, the meeting emphasized community integration through frequent Awami Darbars to engage forest-fringe residents in the NTFP policy, fodder distribution, and registration as eco-guides, ensuring a unified approach to safeguarding the region’s natural resources.
The session was attended by the Conservator of Forests (CF) Srinagar Circle, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Sindh, Deputy Director of the Forest Protection Force (FPF), as well as various Range Officers, Assistant Directors, and Block Officers.
