Chouhan announces Pucca houses for 5 lakh families

Srinagar, April 28: In a major push to rural development in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday announced that nearly five lakh families currently living in temporary “kuchha” houses will soon be provided permanent homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, following a comprehensive physical verification process.Addressing a public gathering in Srinagar, Chouhan said the initiative reflects the vision of Narendra Modi to ensure housing for every citizen.

“A fresh survey has revealed that around five lakh families in Jammu and Kashmir lack permanent shelter. After proper verification, we will ensure that no family is left living in a kuchha house,” he stated.Describing the region’s natural beauty, the minister said, “The scenic beauty here repeatedly reminds us that if there is heaven on earth, it is here.”

Chouhan reiterated that the development of Jammu and Kashmir is central to the nation’s growth vision. “For a developed India, we need a developed Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
