Baramulla, November 7, 2024 – The two-day Wu-Shu Championship 2024 concluded with a grand closing ceremony at the Indoor Stadium Baramulla. The event was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Commanding Officer of the Artillery Battalion Baramulla, along with the Guest of Honour, Professor Tariq Ahmad Chalkoo. Also in attendance were Tabbasum Bano, Secretary of the Wu-Shu Association Baramulla, and Showkat Ahmad, Manager of the Sports Council Baramulla.
The dignitaries honored the winners of the championship and distributed medals among the victorious athletes. The event showcased remarkable talent and sportsmanship, highlighting the growing interest and participation in Wu-Shu in the region.
The championship featured various categories of competition, including junior and senior levels, with participants from different districts showcasing their skills. The athletes demonstrated exceptional prowess in techniques such as Taolu (forms) and Sanda (sparring), earning applause from the audience.
In his address, the Commanding Officer praised the efforts of the organizers and participants, emphasizing the importance of sports in fostering discipline and unity among the youth. Professor Tariq Ahmad Chalkoo highlighted the role of martial arts in promoting physical and mental well-being, encouraging more youth to take up Wu-Shu.
Tabbasum Bano expressed her delight at the successful conduct of the championship and reiterated the Wu-Shu Association’s commitment to nurturing young talent. Showkat Ahmad appreciated the support from the local community and assured continued efforts to enhance sports infrastructure in Baramulla.
