Consumer Assaults KPDCL Staff During Inspection in Batmaloo, Police Initiate Action

Srinagar, Nov 29: A police team from Police Station Tengpora intervened today at Lane No. 9, Firdousabad, Batmaloo, following an incident where a consumer and his son assaulted inspection staff from the Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (KPDCL).

According to officials, the KPDCL team was on a routine inspection when they caught the consumer, identified as Ghulam Hassan Bhat, using an illegal power connection through a permanent hook. When confronted, Bhat and his son allegedly attacked the staff, prompting the KPDCL team to report the incident to the police.

The police arrived at the scene and are in the process of registering a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused. Authorities have assured strict action under relevant sections of the law.

KPDCL officials have condemned the attack, emphasizing that such incidents will not deter their ongoing efforts to curb power theft.
