KISHTWAR MARCH : 17 Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Shavan today inaugurated a Compost Unit for Wet Waste here at Shalamar The initiative forms part of efforts to manage and recycle wet waste transforming it into useful organic fertilizers.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of proper waste management and directed the Municipal authorities to collect wet waste, such as kitchen scraps, vegetable waste besides other waste from households and establishments. This waste will be segregated and converted into valuable organic fertilizers.
Further, the work of beautification of Chowgan Ground has been taken up, besides desilting the choked drains of the town. Other initiatives include the creation of parking, traffic regulation and emphasis on door-to-door collection of garbage.
The inauguration was attended by ACD, Phulail Singh, EO Municipality/Dy. Registrar Cooperative, Mirza Mumtaz Iqbal and other senior officers and officials from various departments.
