Director YSS Chairs Meeting Of DYSSOs

Upward trend in sports participation very encouraging: Chhibber

Srinagar July 20: Director Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K Subash C Chhibber chaired a day-long meeting of all the District Youth Services and Sports Officers (DYSSO) of the Kashmir division.

The review meeting started with a welcome note by the Joint Director Kashmir of the Department Waseem Raja. He while sharing the figures with regard to the participation of youth in games and sports said that all DYSSOs are being monitored by his office on day to day basis to ensure that the already issued Annual Sports calendar of the Department is followed in letter and spirit. He added that in comparison to the participation of May 2022, there is an upward flip of 33.87% as a visible increase can be seen in the involvement of boys and girls from different Government and Private schools of Kashmir division in different games and sports by June 2023 and the numbers are continuously increasing. “Similarly there was a very encouraging flip of 147% in other activities like Sports for Elders, Para Sports, G-20 Walkathons etc by June of the current year” Raja added
While expressing happiness over the upward trend in the figures of participation, Director YS&S hoped that the able and very capable field staff of the Department would leave no stone unturned in channelizing the sports talent of our youngsters. He stressed upon the officers that special focus should be laid on the engagement of school children in mandated activities of YS&S as it helps our youth to shape up their future.
“In a recently held meeting of the School Games Federation of India i had the honor of putting forth a few points in reference to the conduct of the 67th National Games it was well taken. Hopefully, the Department of YS&S shall once again have the honor of hosting Nationals in few sports at Srinagar and Jammu under the aegis of School Games Federation of India this year,” he added.
Subash Chhibber also passed on directions to the officers to expedite the submission of DPRs for different projects for the timely execution and completion of the same.
Deputy Director Planing Ravi Kumar, Accounts Officer Sunil Sharma, SO Planning, SO Accounts Section, I/c Activities, I/c Media & Publicity Wing of YS&S, and other senior officers of the Department were also present in the meeting.
