District Judiciary Kathua celebrates Gandhi Jayanti with “Swachh Bharat Diwas” initiative

KATHUA, OCTOBER 02: The District Judiciary Kathua, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kathua, celebrated ‘Swachh Bharat Diwas’ on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, promoting a message of cleanliness and environmental responsibility.

The event, held in the District Court premises, was themed “Swabhav Swachhta, Sanskaar Swachhta” and aimed to raise awareness about the importance of hygiene and sanitation.

Under the leadership of Chairman of DLSA Kathua (Principal District and Sessions Judge Kathua) Jatinder Singh Jamwal, organized by Secretary DLSA Kamiya Singh Andotra, the event featured a rally from Mukherjee Chowk to Shaheedi Chowk, engaging the local community in a call for cleanliness.

The event was graced by the presence of Additional District and Sessions Judge Kathua Parvin Pandoh, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Kathua Munish Kumar Manhas, Munsiff/JMIC Kathua Viren Magotra, Legal Aid Defense Counsels; members of the Bar; staff from both the District Judiciary and DLSA Kathua; Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs); and officials from the Municipal Council Kathua.

In his address, Jatinder Singh Jamwal underscored the significance of cleanliness, sanitation, and effective waste management, highlighting their far-reaching impact on societal well-being. Secretary DLSA, Kamiya Singh Andotra, in her address, reminding attendees of the importance of the day with the timeless phrase, “Cleanliness is next to Godliness.” She encouraged citizens to actively participate in maintaining clean public and private spaces.

The event served as a meaningful tribute to the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and reinforced the community’s commitment to a cleaner, healthier environment. ‎
