Sales Soar as Shoppers Flock for Festival Preparations
Srinagar, Oct 29: Diwali—the festival of lights is all set to be celebrated on November 01, but the preparations that have begun in this regard have already brought smiles on the faces of traders in the markets as the sales have started going up with people seen thronging the places across Srinagar to buy essentials.
According to the Morning Kashmir, the rush of shoppers has increased with people visiting the shops to buy clothes, sweets and other eatables for the festival ahead.
Bashir Ahmad, one of the street vendors, selling firecrackers at Maharaji Bazar, said it is the festival when they witness a massive market as the sales increase during this period. “For the last couple of days, the rush of shoppers has increased and it will continue to go up till the festival is celebrated here,” he added.
Similarly, a sweet seller in Habba Kadal locality stated that the Kashmir Pandits usually buy sweets from their shops on this festival. “We have come up with the varieties of this festival for our Pandit brothers, who live nearby. Ahead of the Diwali festival, the Pandits brothers start thronging the markets, which lead to the increase in the sales for every shopkeeper,” Zahid Ahmad, a sweet seller said.
The festivals—whatsoever usually bring smiles on the faces of traders across Kashmir and this time too, Diwali has generated hopes among the local shopkeepers here of good sales ahead as the festival is inching closer.
