Srinagar, Nov 21: National Conference (NC) president Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Thursday claimed that the Omar Abdullah-led government ensures complete freedom of expression, allowing leaders within the party, the media, and the public to raise their voices on any issue.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Abdullah said, “The fear of questioning those in power is over. Anyone can raise their voice in this government. Media, the public and even party leaders have the right to hold the government accountable.”
Rahullah has been vocal about the need for rationalizing the policy and expressed his determination to ensure the issue is addressed.
Dr. Farooq also called for investigation into allegations involving officials from Jammu and Kashmir during 2021-2022. “Our government in Jammu and Kashmir should initiate its own probe. Slowly, the truth will come to light, and any irregularities must be exposed and addressed,” he said.
Additionally, he highlighted the need for a thorough investigation into allegations against the Adani Group, expressing hope that the central government would seriously consider the demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe.
“There is no doubt that demands for a JPC have been raised, and I hope the government takes this seriously. A comprehensive investigation is essential to uncover the truth and understand how such incidents occur,” he stated.
On the global attention surrounding alleged economic irregularities, Dr. Farooq stressed the importance of transparency. “If these allegations are true, it is a matter of great concern. Transparency in such matters is crucial,” he said.
While refraining from commenting on recent statements by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Dr. Abdullah acknowledged the international focus on the issue and underscored the need for accountability at all levels.
