Srinagar, July 5: In what could be termed as the indication of early assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has called a meeting of District Election Officers (DEOs) on July 10.Earlier, the media reports suggested that the assembly polls would unlikely take place this year.
However, the notification issued by the Joint Chief Electoral Officer, UT of J&K, has indicated that the polls would be held in J&K soon as the ECI is all et to hold a meeting of DEOs through video conferencing on 10th July, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
As per the notification, the agenda of meeting includes meeting with political parties at the District Level – any specific issues raised, are all the ERO and AEROS, as per ECI notification, in place. If not, since when vacant.
a. Is there one BLO per Polling Station?
b. How many BLOS are local i.e. registered as electors in the concerned Polling Station?
c. Have BLOS been given photo Identity cards/kitbag/name boards?
Status of H2H verification through BLOS
a. Number of households to be verified
b. Number of households already verified
c. Timeline for completion of remaining households
Rationalization/Rearrangement of Polling Stations
a. Is there a need for rationalisation including recasting of sections
b. If Yes, the number of Polling stations, to be added, to be shifted and to undergo a change of nomenclature
c. Whether proposals submitted after due consultation with stakeholders and all documents attached.
Control Table Updation status for all ACs in the district
Health of Electoral Roll
Removal of discrepancies in the Electoral Roll /EPIC with primary emphasis on improvement of image quality ensuring good quality photographs, by replacing blurred, poor quality and not to specification and non-human images in the roll, wherever necessary.
Readiness for preparation integrated draft roll with reference to 01-07-2024 as the qualifying date and pre-draft Format 1 to 8, the notification added.
