AWANTIPORA, July 16: Central Government Welfare schemes are playing a significant role in empowering women across the country, including Jammu and Kashmir.
In a remarkable success story, Samira Jan, a highly educated woman from South Kashmir’s Awantipora area with a postgraduate degree in Sociology, has launched a Tour and Travel agency with support from the Central Government’s flagship Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).
Her enterprise is believed to be the first Tour and Travel venture in Jammu and Kashmir established under the DAY-NRLM programme. Through this initiative, Samira has not only created a sustainable livelihood for herself but is also generating employment opportunities for other young people in the region.
Sharing her journey, Samira said that after completing her education, she wanted to start a venture that would enable her to become self-reliant while also creating jobs for others. With financial and institutional support under the DAY-NRLM flagship programme, she successfully transformed her vision into reality by establishing her own travel business.
Expressing gratitude to the Central Government, Samira said the government’s flagship schemes are providing women with opportunities to become financially independent and pursue entrepreneurship with confidence. She added that such initiatives are encouraging more women to come forward, start their own businesses, and contribute to economic development while inspiring others to follow the path of self-reliance.
