Srinagar, Apr 17: The Haj pilgrimage from Kashmir formally begins today, with the first batch of pilgrims scheduled to depart from Srinagar International Airport. Authorities have made elaborate arrangements at the Haj House in Bemina to ensure a smooth and organized departure process.On the opening day, three flights are set to carry pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
All pilgrims were instructed to report at Haj House as per their allotted timings, where facilitation desks, medical screening, and documentation checks have been put in place.Officials said this year’s arrangements have been significantly upgraded, with a focus on safety, comfort, and better coordination.
The introduction of the Haj Suvidha App and smart tracking systems is expected to ease communication and provide real-time assistance to pilgrims.A senior official from the J&K Haj Committee stated, “We have ensured that every facility is available to the pilgrims right from their arrival at Haj House to boarding the flights. Special attention has been given to elderly pilgrims and those requiring medical assistance.”
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, while reviewing the arrangements, said, “All departments are working in close coordination to facilitate a seamless departure. Our aim is to provide a hassle-free and dignified experience to every pilgrim from Kashmir.”He further added, “Comprehensive arrangements including transport, security, health services, and guidance counters have been put in place to avoid any inconvenience.”
Officials also highlighted that medical teams and emergency services have been stationed at Haj House, while transport arrangements have been streamlined to ferry pilgrims from different districts to Srinagar.Executive Officer of the Haj Committee J&K remarked, “This year we have incorporated better logistics and digital support systems. Pilgrims are being guided at every step to ensure they face no difficulties during the departure process.”
Family members and well-wishers gathered in large numbers at Haj House to bid farewell to the pilgrims, creating an emotional yet spiritually uplifting atmosphere.Authorities have advised all pilgrims to strictly follow travel guidelines and health advisories to ensure a safe and smooth journey as they embark on this sacred pilgrimage.
