First Ever Science Park Inaugurated in Kashmir

Baramullah, Feb 28 : Today marks a historic milestone in Kashmir’s educational landscape as the first-ever Science Park was inaugurated in Baramulla.
Unlike traditional inaugurations, this event took a unique approach by allowing students to immerse themselves in the world of science through hands-on experiences.

The brainchild of Aseem Foundation a Pune based NGO, renowned for its commitment to educational development, the Science Park initiative aims to revolutionize the way science is taught and experienced.

Building upon the success of similar parks in Ladakh, including Druk Padma Karpo School (Popularly Known as Rancho School) and Army Goodwill School, Tyakshi, Aseem Foundation has extended its footprint to Baramulla in collaboration with the Dagger Division of the Indian Army.
Since its inception in 2002, Aseem Foundation has been actively involved in various developmental projects across Jammu and Kashmir.

Recognizing the need to make science education more engaging and accessible, the foundation president emphasized the importance of hands-on learning experiences.
“Science in school is fun and meaningful only when students can experience its practical applications in real life,” he stated, underscoring the purpose of the Science Park.
At its initial stage, the park aims to serve as a hub for scientific exploration and learning, gradually evolving into a comprehensive Science Center for nearby students.

Future plans include the establishment of astronomy and science clubs, as well as hosting science competitions to foster a culture of scientific inquiry and innovation.
The coordination and explanation of science concepts at the park will be overseen by Mrs. Nida Khan, an experienced educator dedicated to inspiring young minds through engaging science education.
With her expertise and passion for teaching, Mrs. Khan will play a pivotal role in ensuring that visitors to the park have enriching and educational experiences.
The inauguration ceremony saw students from four local schools expressing their gratitude towards Aseem Foundation and the Indian Army for their visionary initiative.
Their excitement was palpable as they engaged with various exhibits, including periscopes, seesaws, and demonstrations of concepts like torque through tug of war.

Speaking on the occasion, the organizers extended their heartfelt thanks to the General Officer Commanding (GoC) of Dagger Division for their unwavering support.
They expressed optimism about the park’s potential to inspire generations of young minds and ignite a passion for science and exploration.
As the Science Park in Baramulla embarks on its journey of transformation, with Mrs. Nida Khan leading the way in science education, it promises to be a beacon of curiosity, learning, and innovation for the entire region.
