Gadchiroli Police Destroys IED’s dumped by Maoists to carry out subversive activities

Mumbai, May 06 : A credible int was received that Maoists in plan to carry out IED attacks during GELS-24 had dumped some explosives and Claymore mines in Tipagad area. Since the Int was not pin point at that time, area domination and heavy deployment of security forces was done in that area for GELS 24 to avert any possible incident, making it impossible for Maoists to use these claymores / explosives at that time. Further workout of the Int revealed a pin point location in Tipagad area yesterday where these explosives and claymores were dumped on mountain.

Immediately a team comprising of 02 BDDS teams along with one unit of C60 and one QAT of CRPF were deployed to search for the dump and destroy it in situ if needed. Today morning when the teams reached the spot, they found 06 pressure cookers filled with explosives and detonators and 03 claymore pipes filled with explosives and shrapnels were also found. Remaining 3 claymore pipes were without any explosive. Teams also found gunpowder in a plastic bag, medicines and blankets at the same spot. Total 9 IED’s and 3 claymore pipes were destroyed in situ by BDDS team.

Remaining materials has been burnt on the spot. Teams are on the way back cross country to nearest outpost. Offence will be registered after the teams get into the AOP. For information pls.
