GANDERBAL POLICE CRACKS DOWN ON ILLEGAL LPG CYLINDER HOARDING; LARGE QUANTITY OF CYLINDERS SEIZED.

Acting on reliable information regarding the illegal hoarding and suspected black marketing of LPG cylinders, Ganderbal Police conducted a search operation at Nunner Takia, Ganderbal. During the operation, a large number of domestic and commercial gas cylinders of various companies were recovered from the premises of one individual namely Javid Ahmad Sofi S/O Mohd Ramzan Sofi R/O Nunner Takia Ganderbal and found stored without any valid authorization or licence.

The recovered cylinders were seized on the spot in the presence of officials from the Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CAPD) Department as per legal procedure. The unauthorized storage of such a substantial quantity of LPG cylinders posed a serious risk to public safety and was found to be in prima facie violation of relevant legal provisions.

Accordingly, Case FIR No. 91/2026 under Sections 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act and 287 BNS has been registered at PS Ganderbal, and further investigation is underway.

Ganderbal Police remains committed to taking strict action against illegal activities that endanger public safety and disrupt the supply of essential commodities. Citizens are urged to share information about such unlawful practices with the nearest police station.
