Gender-specific brain changes due to ageing make older women feel more pain, study finds

NEW DELHI, Feb 02 : Why older women feel more pain could be because of gender-specific changes in brain regions involved in pain perception brought about by ageing, new research has found.
These changes were found to heighten these older women’s sensitivity to pain compared to their men counterparts, and hence make them experience more pain.

Researchers clarified that these gender-specific changes may not be related only to one’s biological sex, but also to social factors influencing their responses to pain.
