Srinagar, Nov 14: In anticipation of the winter season, there are many hopes for the favourable tourism season as the famous ski-resort—Gulmarg is already jam-packed for Christmas and New Year.
The footfall of tourists has gone up in Jammu and Kashmir for the last couple of years, prompting the government to come up with initiatives like homestays to accommodate the rush of tourists in the Union Territory.
President of Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK), Rouf Tramboo, said that Gulmarg, one of the snowbound attractive places in Kashmir, is already jam-packed for the Christmas and New Year eve.
He added that some other destinations that have been thrown open for all the seasons like Sonamarg and Doodhpathri are also witnessing bookings for the Christmas and New Year.
“We hope the tourist season will be good like the past and the bookings and queries will continue to go up till the occasions arrive,” Tramboo said.
Meanwhile, the officials in the Tourism department informed that the winter plans are being prepared for Gulmarg and other places. “The sports carnival and other events will be held in Gulmarg this year again. Already, the place has witnessed a huge rush of tourists in the past several years especially during Christmas and New Year, we are trying to come up with the events that will attract more tourists from outside J&K,” an official in the Tourism department said.
It is worth mentioning here that Sonamarg—a famous tourist destination as per the reports — has already received 7.60 lakh tourists in the first ten months from January 01 to October 31.
