“He Served Like a Guardian”: Emotional Farewell as Special School Students Bid Adieu to Assam Rifles Commandant Col Archit Goswami (SM)

Serchhip, Mizoram: An emotional atmosphere prevailed at Shalom Special School in Serchhip district of Mizoram as specially abled children, teachers, and staff bid a heartfelt farewell to Commandant Colonel Archit Goswami (SM) of 14 Assam Rifles for his dedicated service and unwavering support towards the institution.

Shalom Special School, established for specially abled children suffering from conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy, and other developmental challenges, has become a symbol of hope and care in the region. The school was inaugurated by Honorable Governor to Mizoram Gen V. K. Singh during his tenure as GoC-in-C Eastern Command, and since then, 14 Assam Rifles has continued to nurture and support the institution with commitment and compassion.

During his tenure, Colonel Archit Goswami (SM) played a pivotal role in strengthening the bond between the Assam Rifles and the children of the school. From ensuring better facilities and welfare support to spending meaningful time with the students, the Commandant earned immense affection and respect from the children and staff alike.
The farewell ceremony turned deeply emotional as students expressed their gratitude through songs, handmade cards, and warm gestures. Many children were seen in tears while bidding goodbye to the Commandant, reflecting the strong emotional connection he had built with them over time.

Teachers and school authorities praised Colonel Goswami for his humanitarian approach and consistent efforts towards the welfare and empowerment of specially abled children. They described his contribution as “beyond official duty,” saying his kindness and personal involvement brought smiles and confidence into the lives of the children.
