Srinagar, Nov 19: The recent rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir has improved water availability, alleviating concerns about hydroelectric power generation during the winter months, the administration said.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, V K Bidhuri said that the increased water levels in water bodies would enhance electricity production during the winter months.
“We are closely monitoring electricity production and distribution at the highest level. We hope for adequate snowfall and rainfall during winter months. Our teams are on high alert to ensure uninterrupted power and road connectivity during the harsh winter. There is no need to worry,” Bidhuri assured while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in Srinagar.
Similarly, he said that robust measures are in place to ensure smooth operations throughout the winter.
“We have sufficient reserves of essential supplies, including diesel and petrol, to sustain operations for up to seven days, even during emergencies or strikes,” he said.
The Divisional Commissioner reiterated the administration’s commitment to managing snowfall and maintaining essential services during the harsh weather.
“Our preparedness ensures that essential supplies and services remain unaffected. People should remain confident in our winter readiness,” he said.
Bidhuri also highlighted the administration’s focus on public safety, particularly concerning children using scooters.
He urged parents to prioritize their children’s safety. “Parents must ensure the safety of their children. We are addressing this issue through awareness programs and strict measures,” he said.
On the preservation of Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage, Bidhuri lauded the Archaeology and Archives Department for its efforts. He encouraged people to take pride in their history and contribute to its preservation.
“We must cherish our history and showcase it to future generations. Projects under the Smart City initiative, such as retrofitting and illuminating historic buildings, reflect our dedication to preserving heritage,” he said.
