SRINAGAR, JAN 06: In a significant breakthrough, Deputy Drug Controller Kashmir Saturday said that they have seized the illegal abortion medication valued at Rs 3.50 lakhs in Srinagar.
This operation, triggered by a reliable tip-off, unfolded through a collaborative effort between the drug control authorities and the tax department.
The illegal drugs, carefully concealed and transported through covert channels, exploited counterfeit licenses to circumvent legal scrutiny.
Deputy Drug Controller Kashmir Nighat Jabeen stressed the ongoing, comprehensive investigation aimed at unravelling the intricate web of illegal activities associated with this case.
Highlighting the gravity of the case, Jabeen revealed, “Prior to this operation, we had already revoked several licenses linked to similar issues, underscoring our commitment to combat the illegal drug trade in the valley.”
This revelation raises concerns about the depth of the illicit market and the sophisticated methods employed to circulate unauthorized pharmaceuticals.
The joint operation underscores the imperative for heightened vigilance and seamless coordination between regulatory bodies to curb the illegal drug trade.
Nighat Jabeen affirmed, “We will not tolerate illegal drugs in the valley, and such operations will persist to ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens.”
Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to the illegal drug trade.
The seized medication will undergo a thorough analysis, and individuals found responsible for this illicit operation will face legal consequences.
This successful operation serves as a stern warning to those involved in illegal pharmaceutical activities, emphasizing that stringent measures will be taken to safeguard public health and maintain the integrity of the pharmaceutical industry in the region. The collaborative effort between the Deputy Drug Controller and the Tax Department highlights the government’s determination to combat the unlawful trade of medications, thereby ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
