In a first, LG Sinha hands over job letters to terror victim families in Baramulla

Baramulla, July 13 – In a significant move aimed at addressing long-standing grievances of terrorism-affected families, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday announced that the Jammu and Kashmir administration will reopen all unregistered cases involving victims of terrorism and return confiscated properties to rightful owners after due investigation.

Speaking during a public event in Baramulla, where he distributed appointment letters to 40 members of terror-hit families, LG Sinha said the government is committed to ensuring justice, dignity, and economic rehabilitation for those who have suffered due to terrorism.

Many families were never given their rightful due, including government jobs or financial aid. This administration has decided to change that,” LG Sinha said,.

He stated that following detailed consultations with senior officials, including the Home Secretary of J&K, the administration resolved to offer jobs to eligible members of terror-affected families.

Those who have not received financial assistance will now be supported, and we will also create avenues for self-employment,” he added.

Recalling his emotional meetings with families of terror victims in Anantnag, LG Sinha said many of them had been ignored for years despite being eligible for government support.

In a landmark assurance, the LG announced that cases where FIRs were not registered or properties were confiscated without due process will now be reopened and reviewed.

“We will investigate all such cases, and wherever justified, properties will be returned to the families,” he said.

To streamline the redressal process, dedicated helpline numbers have been activated in every district. LG Sinha urged affected families to contact their district helplines and submit applications for review and assistance.

“This is not just an administrative initiative—this is a moral responsibility,” the LG concluded.
