GANDHINAGAR, JAN 12: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, addressing the valedictory session of the three-day Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS), declared a bold vision for India to secure its position as the world’s third-largest economy during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third term. Shah attributed this trajectory to political stability, a corruption-free environment, an investment-friendly agenda, and a peaceful atmosphere.
Shah emphasized the remarkable turnaround in India’s economic status over the past decade, noting that the country, once perceived as a fragile economy, has become an attractive destination for global investments. He highlighted the impact of structural reforms initiated under PM Modi’s leadership, expressing confidence that India would achieve developed nation status well before the target year of 2047.
The home minister credited PM Modi for conceptualizing the VGGS initiative in 2003 during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Shah highlighted Gujarat’s success in becoming the “gateway of the future,” with other states replicating the VGGS model.
During the concluding session, Shah urged industry leaders to invest in the education sector, envisioning India as a global education hub. He echoed Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha’s view that investments in the region would strengthen India’s unity and integrity.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel asserted that Gujarat, as the first state to chart its own roadmap for making India a developed nation, is a pioneer in the country’s economic transformation. Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister Parshottam Rupala attributed Gujarat’s attractiveness as an investment destination to PM Modi’s visionary launch of the VGGS initiative in 2003. The summit concluded with a collective acknowledgment of Gujarat’s pivotal role in India’s economic progress and its potential to become a global powerhouse.
