J&K KVIB Reviews Progress of SFURTI Clusters in Jammu Division

Jammu, Jan 10 : The Jammu & Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (J&K KVIB) today issued a statement summarizing the key outcomes of a review meeting chaired by Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat, Chairperson J&K KVIB, to discuss the implementation of the Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) in Jammu division.
The review meeting was held at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu on January 10, 2024. It was attended by senior J&K KVIB officials, representatives of technical agencies, and other stakeholders.

As per the statement, Dr. Bhat emphasized J&K KVIB’s commitment to furthering sustainable development, preserving traditional skills, and enabling economic growth in targeted regions through the establishment of SFURTI clusters. She called for coordinated efforts between stakeholders for smooth implementation of the scheme.
The statement revealed that three beekeeping clusters are being established in Samba, Doda and Ramban districts with Rs. 3.81 crores of SFURTI assistance. The Common Facility Centres of these clusters will have honey processing plants, comb foundation mills, and provide training to beekeepers.
It was informed that the SFURTI clusters will boost productivity and incomes for beekeepers, revive traditional beekeeping, and generate employment opportunities. Dr. Bhat urged stakeholders to work together to operationalize the clusters in a time-bound manner.
The statement highlighted that the review meeting aligned with J&K KVIB’s objectives of promoting traditional industries and livelihoods for artisans and weaker sections of society in J&K. It underscored the Board’s commitment to harnessing SFURTI benefits for income and employment generation in the region.-
