Kansa Vadh Mela: Mathura, November 1-Several thousand Chaturvedi community people from Dubai, UAE, Bahreen

New Delhi 01-11-2025: Mumbai, and Mathura witnessed Kansa Vadh (Killing) today, an official of Sri Mathur Chaturvedi Parishad said.
The mela started from Hanuman Gali (Street) of the city in the form of a large procession with every member of the community, wearing traditional attire and carrying a decorated Lathi (baton), General Secretary, Sri Mathur Chaturvedi Parishad Rakesh Tiwari, advocate said. They were accompanying Lord Krishna and were carrying a 19-meter-high effigy of Kansa.

The procession also showcases 15 tableaux, including 3 moving sculptures, he added.
The chariot for Lord Krishna and Balram was given an improvised shape of an artificial elephant. On a signal from Lord Krishna and Balram, the Chaturvedi community people beat the effigy of Kansa with Lathi (baton), sparing his head, shouting “Chajju Laye Khat ke paye Mar Mar Lathan Jhur kar aye,” Rakesh Chaturvedi said.
They took the Head of Kansa to Sabji Mandi of Kanskhar area, where it was again beaten by the Chaturvedi community people with batons. The area is therefore called Kanskhar, Chief Patron, Sri Mathur Chaturvedi Parishad Mahesh Pathak said.
The entire Procession, in the form of Shoba Yatra, is heading towards Vishram Ghat for Arti of Krishna Balram and Yaumna ji, Mahesh Pathak added.
The community will perform Parikrama of Mathura , Garud Govind and Vrindavan (18 Kos or 54 Kms) from midnight on auspicious day of Dev Uthani Ekadashi to overcome evil of killing Kansa. The circumambulation was first performed by Krishna and Balram, Mahesh Pathak said.
The Parikrama is also joined by people of Mathura and Vrindavan.
