Srinagar June : 19 As temperatures soar across the Kashmir Valley a growing chorus of school students is calling on the authorities to announce summer vacations without further delay. The ongoing heatwave has made attending school increasingly difficult, raising concerns about students’ health and safety.
Speaking to Morning Kashmir, Mohammad Ziyan, a Class 7 student, shared his discomfort. “Summer breaks should be called as soon as possible. It is becoming very difficult for us to go to school in this scorching heat,” he said, visibly exhausted from the high temperatures.
Sauda, a Class 4 student, echoed similar concerns, highlighting alarming incidents in schools. “Many students in our school have fainted due to the rising temperature. The authorities should intervene quickly and announce summer vacations,” she urged.
Parents and teachers have also expressed worry over the safety of young students as classrooms grow hotter each day, with little respite from the heat.
In response to the mounting concerns, Education Minister Sakina Itoo assured that the government is actively monitoring the situation. “A decision regarding summer breaks will be taken soon based on the prevailing weather conditions,” she said.
As the heatwave shows no signs of relenting, students, parents, and educators alike are hopeful that timely action will be taken to prioritize the well-being of children across the region.
