Kashmiris brim with festive cheer ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr

Srinagar, Apr 9: The markets in Kashmir are buzzing with energy and excitement as people eagerly prepare for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festival. After the conclusion of the fasting month of Ramzan on Tuesday evening, locals thronged the markets to buy new clothes, sweets, meat, poultry, vegetables, toys, firecrackers, and even electronic gadgets.
The streets are filled with the hustle and bustle of shoppers, traffic jams, and lively bargaining between buyers and pavement sellers. Children can be seen excitedly purchasing toys and firecrackers, while elders jostle with each other at bakery and mutton shops, eager to stock up on delicacies for the celebrations.

Shopkeepers and sweet sellers have been working tirelessly to restock their shelves with fresh supplies, as buyers indulge in feverish shopping, determined not to miss out on any Eid necessities.
Despite the presence of special market-checking squads trying to ensure reasonable prices and quality, the buyers continue to empty their pockets with enthusiasm, unfazed by the varying prices of non-edible goods even in adjacent shops.
The administration has made efforts to ensure sufficient stocks of cooking gas, petroleum products, and essential commodities, so that there are no shortages during the Eid festivities.
Cities and towns across the Kashmir valley are witnessing a similar flurry of activity, with men, women, and children all taking to the streets to shop for their Eid celebrations.
Special arrangements have been made in Srinagar and other parts of the valley for the congregational Eid prayers on Wednesday. Traditionally, Eid is a time when the message of universal brotherhood prevails, and Kashmiri Muslims fondly remember their Pandit neighbors who were driven out of the region during the early 1990s.
As the valley eagerly awaits the dawn of Eid, the festive spirit and the joy of togetherness fill the air, offering a glimmer of hope and unity in the region.
