Ulfat Hussain elected President, Wasim Majnoon Mir as chairman


Kupwara, 23 Jan: The working journalists of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district framed a body, Young Journalists Association Kupwara YJAK, on Tuesday.knt

YJAK, which has 17 working journalist as members, held maiden election to choose various office bearer’s.
Ulfat Hussain Malik was elected as president, Murtaza Mushtaq As vice president, Tahir Ahmad Bhat General secretary, Towseef Hamdani as Spokesperson and Javid Ahmad Mir as Treasurer.
The elected body nominated Hilal Ahmad, Faisal Ahmad Mir, Raja Ishaq, Ab Majeed, Sajid Bashir, Nissar Ahmad Mir etc as executive members while as Wasim Majnoon Mir will function as chairman.
Senior Journalist and patron of YJAK, Wasim Majnoon Mir hailed the members for holding successful elections. “Journalists in Kashmir, particularly journalists from North Kashmir work in a very challenging environment and these challenges can be face by supporting and coordinating with each other,” he said, adding that YJAK is bound to highlight issues as they happen without taking sides.
“This is really good news to us that young working journalists of Kupwara and handwara have come under a single platform #Kupwarians,”
Added that “If any member or YJAK official found in any illegal activities he/she will be self-responsible and dismiss from the organisation without any delay.”
Meanwhile several political and non political organisations congratulated president and other officer bearers. The office bearers were garlanded as a token of appreciation from Authorities.
Various issues facing Journalists of Kupwara district were brought into the notice of concerned deputy Commissioner Ms Ayushi Sudan (IAS).
President YJAK Ulfat Hussain Malik, reiterated demand for Press Club in Kupwara. The authorities assured redressel of the issues.
