Mathura, October6 – Kheer and Chandrakala offered to Thakur ji as Bhog Prashad across temples in Mathura Vrindavan today as Lakhs of devotees visited temples across Mathura Vrindavan on Sharad Poornima(the full moon day), the day on which Lord Krishna performed Maharaas ( a celestial divine dance) at Chandra Sarovar in the village Parasoli, according to Hindu Mythology.
Special arrangements were made to facilitate easy darshans for devotees.
Police personnel and officers were deployed outside temples to ensure the safety of devotees, District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh said.
Thakur Bankey Bihari ji Maharaj wore a White Poshak (dress) and played Bansuri (flute), in a once-a-year ritual, Gyanendra Kishor Goswami Sewayat Sri Bankey Bihari temple, Vrindavan said. The flute is kept on the side of Thakur ji, at other times of the year. There was a rush among Devotees to offer a flute to Thakur Ji Maharaj, he added.
“Chandrakala and Kheer have special significance for the day, and are offered across temples to Thakur Ji,” Magic of moonlight was created inside temples with white colour decorations, said renowned saint Swami Dr Avasheshanand ji Maharaj.
“Chandrakala is a fried sweet poori with powdered sugar (Bhura) sprinkled on it. “It holds importance as the shape of the sweet matches with the moon, and is considered very auspicious,” Dinesh Chandra Goswami Sevayat Radharaman temple. “Radharaman Lalju” wore a special Mukut(crown). The Darshans of Thakur Ji were offered from the temple Jagmohan, where moonlight was falling on him, Dinesh Goswami said. Raas panchayat was also recited in front of Thakur Ji, he added.
A sea of devotees is performing circumambulation of the Govardhan hills, under moonlight since late evening. They will perform Panchaamrit abhishek tomorrow, which is considered to be very auspicious, said Pawan Kaushik Sewayat Danghati temple Goverdhan.
Thakur Rajadhiraj offered special Sharad Poornima darshans from outside the sanctum sanctorium in the evening at Dwarikadheesh temple , said Rakesh Tiwari, Media and legal Advisor, Sri Dwarikadheesh temple, Mathura. Farmers in Nandgaon, performed once a year, circumambulation of Nandgaon to begin harvesting wheat (rabi)crops, Sushil Goswami Sewayat Nand Baba temple, said. Radha Rani temple in Barsana was also decorated in White, and Kheer prashad was offered to the deity to celebrate Sharad Poornima, he added.
