LG Manoj Sinha Expresses Gratitude to PM Modi, Union Minister Chouhan for PM-KISAN Support to J&K Farmers

Srinagar, Oct 6: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, has expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, for the advance release of the 21st instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme for farmers in the Union Territory.

LG Sinha said that approximately Rs 171 crore will be directly transferred into the bank accounts of around 8.55 lakh eligible farmers across Jammu and Kashmir under the latest instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme. He said this timely financial assistance will provide a significant boost to the rural economy and support farmers in sustaining their livelihoods amid ongoing challenges.

“I am extremely grateful to Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ji for the advance release of the 21st instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme for the farmers of J&K UT. Approx. Rs.171 Cr will be directly transferred into the bank accounts of around 8.55 Lakh eligible farmers of J&K today. This much-needed financial assistance will help our farmers to sustain their livelihoods, speed up recovery to resume agricultural activities,” the statement quoted LG Manoj Sinha as saying.

Highlighting the resilience and importance of the farming community, the Lieutenant Governor said that the farmers of Jammu and Kashmir are the backbone of the economy and play a vital role in laying the foundation for growth in other sectors.

He further said that the Government of India is fully committed to extending all possible assistance to mitigate the effects of the recent floods—described as the worst in several decades—and to ensure stability and recovery in the lives of the affected population.

LG Sinha reaffirmed that the administration will continue to work closely with the Centre to safeguard the interests of farmers and provide them with every necessary support to resume normal agricultural operations swiftly. [KNT]
