Lok Sabha Polls: Apni Party fields Ashraf Mir from Sgr, Zaffar from Anantnag

Won’t contest from Jammu seats: Dilawar Mir

Srinagar, Apr 4: As the talks failed to reach any conclusion, Apni Party on Thursday announced two Lok Sabha candidates for Anantnag-Rajouri and Srinagar parliamentary constituency, leaving room for the possible bonhomie with Peoples Conference (PC) in north Kashmir’s Baramulla constituency.
Addressing a press conference, Chairman Apni Party Parliamentary Committee Board, Dilawar Ahmad Mir, said that the party has decided to field Zafar Iqbal Manhas from the Anantnag-Rajouri constituency and Muhammad Ashraf Mir from the Srinagar constituency in the Lok Sabha polls.

However, he said that the elections in the Baramulla constituency will be held in the last leg, thus no decision over fielding any candidate has been taken yet while the doors are still open for the pre-poll alliance with the like-minded parties.
Asked about the possible alliance between DPAP led by Ghulam Nabi Azad and the Apni Party, he said that the discussions were going on, but that couldn’t mature as Azad decided to fight separately. “The doors are not closed yet,” he said.
Speaking over the allegations of A, B and C teams, Mir said those who are making such statements should be asked, which team they belong to as they were part of the BJP in the past.
Asked why the party has not fielded any candidate from Jammu seats, he said the party is not that strong in Jammu that’s why they have not announced their candidates from there.
However, he said that the party has not taken any call yet about supporting any candidate or party from Jammu seats.
Muhammad Ashraf Mir while talking to the media said that the party has pinned hope on him and it is a fight between right and wrong. “I don’t care about the opponents; it is the people who will have to choose their representative,” he said.
Zaffar Iqbal Manhas also stated that politics is a game and he has been brought to such a situation at present. “I will try my level best to come up with the expectations of people, I know the conditions of pitch, I take it as a test for me,” he said.
