PAMPORE, December 27: MLA Pampore, Retired Justice Hasnain Masoodi, chaired a high-level review meeting on Saturday, at the Jammu Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) Pampore. The meeting comprehensively assessed the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), AMRUT, Capex initiatives, and other key programs under the Jal Shakti PHE Department in the Pampore constituency, underscoring the government’s resolve to ensure sustainable water security for all residents.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti (PHE) Kashmir Superintending Engineer, Mechanical Circle South SrinagarExecutive Engineer, Ground Water Division SrinagarExecutive Engineer, PHE Mechanical Division Awantipora Executive Engineer, PHE Division Awantipora Executive Engineer, PHE Division Pulwama Assistant Executive Engineer, GWD/Mech/Civil, Pampore Sub Division, officials told Morning Kashmir.
During the deliberations, officers briefed the MLA on the progress of JJM works in the Pampore Constituency, as well as ongoing works under the AMRUT programme in Pampore Town and Capex initiatives across the constituency. He expressed satisfaction with the overall advancement of Capex works but took serious note of critical challenges under JJM, such as failed borewells, ongoing court cases filed by landowners, and delays in funding—which have led contractors to halt construction, with payments pending for the last year—impeding completion of remaining projects. The MLA also impressed upon officers to expedite AMRUT works in Pampore Town to achieve milestones on time.Key issues discussed included Progress of works under JJM, AMRUT, UT Capex, District Capex, and related programmes. Reasons for delays, including funding bottlenecks, site-specific hurdles, and their impact on timelines and project commissioning.Quality concerns with borewells across the constituency and actionable solutions for remediation. Future work programs to systematically address public grievances on water supply infrastructure.Comprehensive winter preparations to guarantee uninterrupted piped water services amid harsh weather conditions.
MLA Pampore Hasnain Masoodi reiterated the government’s firm commitment to achieving 100% piped water supply to every household under JJM. He directed officers to prioritize resolution of legal, technical, and financial impediments, enforce stringent quality controls, expedite pending payments, accelerate AMRUT and other works through enhanced coordination, and conduct regular field inspections.
