Termed as the Modi government’s most significant triumph in the region, officials have highlighted an array of accomplishments that underscore a new era of progress and development.
The augmentation of hydropower capacity, coupled with substantial investments in crores, has not only illuminated the region but has also fueled economic growth, generating thousands of jobs for the vibrant youth population.
In a nod to humanitarian concerns, the government has initiated a monthly monetary compensation program for the relief category of Kashmiri migrants, addressing longstanding challenges faced by the affected population.
Financially, the government has secured an impressive Rs 3239 crore for diverse projects, injecting vigor into the developmental landscape. The tourism sector has witnessed an unprecedented surge, with 26.73 lakh tourists converging on the breathtaking Kashmir Valley—a figure more than double the previous record.
In the first half of 2023 alone, a staggering 1.10 crore tourists have flocked to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, including 16,423 foreign visitors, showcasing a remarkable global appeal.
Investment projects totalling nearly Rs 25 thousand crore are actively underway, contributing to the economic renaissance of the Union Territory. Proposals for additional projects are under consideration, hinting at a sustained commitment to propel the region into an economic powerhouse.
Beyond material development, the restoration of peace stands as a pinnacle achievement. The coalescence of peace-building and developmental endeavours paints a holistic picture of the Modi government’s strategy in Kashmir.
