Mukesh Ojha’s Bhojpuri film “Shikari” continues its success, drawing huge audiences in its second week

Mumbai, December 30, 2025 – The Bhojpuri film “Shikari” continues its run of success. Released on December 19th, the film has maintained a strong audience following its second week, having been released in several cinemas, including Bihar and Jharkhand. Commenting on the film’s success, actor Mukesh Ojha said, “I am grateful to my fans and supporters for their love for my film. “Shikari” is India’s first Bhojpuri slasher thriller, featuring a man-eater for the first time. Produced under the banner of Anita Cine Entertainment, the film is directed by Manoj S. Tomar. The film stars Mukesh Ojha, Sanchita Banerjee, Roshan Sharma, Zoya Khan, Pallavi Giri, Mani Bhattacharya, Sonalika Prasad, Rohit Singh (Matru), Gauri Shankar, MM Rishi, Sudhakar Mishra, Dhirendra Prajapati, Sanjay Maurya, Dan Bahadur Yadav, Rahul Singh Tomar, and Neel Kamal Singh. The cast members say that shooting for hours while wearing prosthetic makeup was extremely challenging. The film is made in a Bollywood style. It is India’s first slasher thriller, and that too in Bhojpuri. And this historical film is dedicated to Mukesh Ojha.

Mukesh Ojha, who plays the lead role in the film, based on nature and the environment, described the film as being connected to the environment. A group of 10 people goes to the forest. He further explained that if we look at the spread of the Corona epidemic in a different way, then humans are exploiting the environment in such a way that it is having many adverse effects.

Prosthetic makeup has been used for the first time in Bhojpuri cinema. Actor Mukesh Ojha stated that this is his debut film. Most of the filming took place in the forests of Kolkata, Mumbai, and Jharkhand. He explained that this film marks the first time prosthetic makeup has been used in the Bhojpuri industry. Previously, prosthetic makeup was seen in major Bollywood films like Amitabh Bachchan’s “Paa” and Kamal Haasan’s “Vishwaroopam” in the South.

Actress Sanchita Banerjee of the Bhojpuri film “Shikari,” made at a cost of 1.5 crore rupees, explained that the film is a story of environmental retaliation, with storms and epidemics in some places. The story revolves around chemical factories polluting the area’s rivers and streams, causing the surrounding villages to become victims of deadly chemicals. Because of these chemicals, people have forgotten their humanity and their faces. He has become ferocious and has become a cannibal, in this film he encounters such a cannibal gang, the cost of this film is around 1.5 crores.

Actress Zoya Khan told that “14 hours of shooting had to be done without eating or drinking, the actress of the film Zoya Khan told that after prosthetic makeup, shooting had to be done for hours, it took 2 to 3 hours to apply prosthetic makeup and the same number of hours to remove it, there was so much makeup on the face that 12 to 14 hours of shooting had to be done without eating or drinking, sometimes if I felt very hungry then liquid diet had to be taken through a straw, shooting after prosthetic makeup is very challenging.

Actress Pallavi Giri stated, “This film is a departure from the norm. If Bhojpuri films are made with stories like this, the Bhojpuri film industry will rise, and in the coming days, the Bhojpuri industry will become like the South Indian industry. A bit of Hollywood flair will also be seen in this film.” She added that Bhojpuri content has increased significantly these days, and new artists are getting ample opportunities.
