Srinagar, Nov 4: The government after reverting to November-December academic session upto Class 9th has decided that there would be no relaxation in the syllabus to the students, appearing in the examinations in the next month.
Talking to the Morning Kashmir, Education Minister, Sakina Masood (Itoo) said that there will be no relaxation in syllabus for the students’ upto 9th standard.
She added that the government prior to taking the decision of reverting to November-December academic session were in consolation with the students as well as the school administrations. The minister stated that the majority of them had completed the syllabus already and were ready for the examination at any time.
“Therefore, we have taken the decision after going through all these issues and now the students will not be given any relaxation in the syllabus,” she said.
Furthermore, it has been learnt that some of the schools have taken decisions on relaxations according to the status on completion of the syllabus. “As the previous examination was held only in March this year, the class work has taken place only for the six months due to which the syllabus has not been completed. We have given some relaxation to the students, who have not completed their syllabus in the shortest time,” some of the school administrations informed.
Some of the schools have started taking extra classes to complete the pending syllabus to prepare the students for the upcoming examinations, slated to be held in December month.
Pertinently, the newly formed Jammu and Kashmir government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, within the 15 days after assuming the power, reverted the academic calendar from March session to November.
This is the first major decision of the LG administration that has been reversed by the Abdullah-led government. The decision was announced by Abdullah in the presence of School Education Minister Sakina Masood Itoo here on October 30.
