Srinagar, Oct 28: Amid the forecast of light rain and snowfall for the next 24 hours, the first month of the new season—autumn in Jammu and Kashmir has ended on a dry note with the Union Territory recording a deficit rainfall of 69%.
As per the details available with the Morning Kashmir, J&K has recorded a rainfall of just 8.5 mm against the average rainfall of 27.4 mm from October 01 to October 23.
Five districts including Doda, Jammu, Kathua, Kupwara and Reasi have recorded a deficient rainfall in between 20-59 percent.
Srinagar is among the 13 districts where the rainfall deficit of 60-99 percent has been witnessed during the period.
According to the data, Srinagar has recorded a deficit rainfall of 89% while Pulwama recorded 95%, Anantnag recorded 99% deficit rainfall while Budgam, Bandipora, Baramulla recorded a deficit rainfall of 88%, 86% and 78% respectively.
Kulgam in south Kashmir has also recorded a deficit rainfall of 96 percent as against the average rainfall of 30.41 mm, it has received only 1.3 mm during the period.
Moreover, the weatherman in Srinagar has forecasted light rain and snow in the higher reaches of north and central Kashmir, but stated that the weather would remain generally dry till November 07 with no possibility of any precipitation in the next one week.
