PDP to contest from all Kashmir seats: Mehbooba

‘Decision about candidates in next few days’

Srinagar, Apr 3: Repulsing back to National Conference (NC) Omar Abdullah, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday stated that the party is not going to extend any support, but will contest from all the three seats of Kashmir division.
Mehbooba addressed a press conference today and reacted over Omar Abdullah’s statement in which he had stated that PDP might not field its candidates against NC.

However, the PDP Chief said that the anger and anguish among the workers have increased against NC after Omar Abdullah claimed that the PDP is far behind and is nowhere in sight in J&K.
“Our workers are in no mood to extend support to NC. If PDP doesn’t exist anywhere, why is Omar Sahab keen to get its support for the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls,” Mehbooba said.
“Being a senior leader, Dr Farooq Abdullah was given a mandate to decide whatever is beneficial for the people, but instead of asking us genuinely to extend support to NC, Omar Sahab has made disappointing statements against us, which is the only reason that our workers don’t want to extend support to NC in the parliamentary elections,” PDP Chief said.
She also stated that the parliamentary committee board has been holding consultations about fielding candidates from Kashmir. “I think the decision in this regard will be made public in the next few days,” Mehbooba said, adding that though she is not part of the board and thus cannot speak or make any announcement about the candidates.
Nonetheless, when asked about fielding candidates from two seats of the Jammu division, Mehbooba said there has been no discussion over Jammu seats so far, but about the Kashmir Lok Sabha seats, the decision will be made public soon.
