People of J&K choosing peace over separatism says LG Manoj Sinha

New Delhi April : 5 Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha has said that the people of the Union Territory have moved past separatism and terrorism, and are now aspiring for peace and development. He asserted that the situation in the region has changed significantly, with growing public participation in national events and developmental initiatives.

In an interview with Group Editor -Convergence, Network 18, Brijesh Kumar Singh, the LG, dismissed the claims of former Chief Minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, who had earlier said that no one would hoist the national flag if Article 370 was abrogated.
People are now holding national rallies and proudly carrying the national flag. There is no shortage of people taking the national flag in their hands,” Sinha said, emphasizing a shift in the public mood.
Highlighting government efforts to improve religious tourism infrastructure, Sinha said that significant developmental projects are underway for the convenience of pilgrims visiting Mata Vaishno Devi and Shri Amarnath shrines. He assured that no one’s livelihood would be jeopardized due to these developments.
Even if one person is affected by the ongoing development, they will be duly compensated,” he said.
On the issue of national security, Sinha called Pakistan a “failed state” and noted that its own authors have started acknowledging the developmental progress in Jammu and Kashmir. “While Pakistan grapples with internal crises, the world is witnessing rapid development on this side of Kashmir,” he added.
The Lieutenant Governor also said the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has taken strong measures to ensure lasting peace in the region.
No one will be allowed to disturb peace in Jammu and Kashmir. The disturbances of the past will not be repeated,” he said.
He confirmed that stringent action has been taken against organizations such as Hurriyat and Jamaat-e-Islami. “We are not only banning anti-national groups but also targeting individuals associated with them to prevent them from regrouping,” Sinha stated.
He said that employees involved in anti-national activities have been terminated, and security agencies have adopted a comprehensive “360-degree approach” to eliminate terrorism.
Earlier the focus was only on Kashmir, but now we are addressing attempts to disturb peace in Jammu as well. With increased deployment, peace will soon prevail in Jammu. The terrorists won’t get any support here,” he added.
