President of All J&K Electrical Employees Union Sh. Naseer Ahmad has expressed grave concern over the failure of Electric and Sub Transmission Divisions of KPDCL to put in place operating procedures for carrying out electrical maintenance works which are resulting in casualties and injuries to the executive field staff on regular basis.

Sh. Naseer Ahmad referred to today’s incident in Kupwara where one of its employees, Sh. Shahid Ahmed Hajam Lineman received electric shock at Kalaroos while he was performing maintenance duties. He blamed the Divisional Heads for lapses in coordination and asked MD KPDCL to devise a mechanism that protects the lives of the field staff on repair and restoration duties in winter months.
He also appealed all his executive staff members to wear safety gear while performing field work, in view of prediction of heavy snowfall.
