Principal, GMC Baramulla Felicitated with Meritorious Public Service Award on Republic Day.

Baramulla | 26 January 2026 : Prof. Dr. Majid Jahangir, Principal, Government Medical College Baramulla, has been honoured with the Award for Distinguished and Meritorious Public Service by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir on the eve of the 77th Republic Day of India.
This prestigious recognition stands as a testament to Prof. Dr. Majid Jahangir’s exemplary leadership, unwavering commitment, and outstanding contribution to healthcare and public service. Under his visionary and inclusive leadership, GMC Baramulla has continued to strengthen tertiary patient care, academic excellence, and medical research.

The achievement has been widely acknowledged across the institution. Dr. (Prof.) Shafqat Lone, Academic Registrar, lauded his academic and administrative foresight, while Dr. Parvez Masoodi, Medical Superintendent, Associated Hospital, highlighted his dedication to patient welfare and public service. Muhammad Shafi Wani (JKAS), Chief Accounts Officer, described the honour as a reflection of inclusive leadership guiding GMC Baramulla towards the highest standards of excellence. The Medical Faculty Forum, GMC Baramulla, along with faculty members, also expressed pride in this landmark achievement.
