Rahul Gandhi to kickstart J&K Poll campaign with Banihal, Dooru rallies

Srinagar, Aug 31: As the first phase of assembly polls approaches on September 18, Leader of Opposition and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is gearing up to address key gatherings in Banihal and Dooru constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir on September 4.

As per the details available with The Morning Kashmir, a total of 120 star campaigners are scheduled to address gatherings here in Jammu and Kashmir to attract the voters to cast their ballots in favour of the party candidates.
A total of 32 candidates will be fielded by the Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir while it would extend support to National Conference (NC) candidates from 51 seats. Both the parties have decided to have a friendly contest in five assembly constituencies while one seat each has been left for CPI (M) and Panthers Party.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president, Tariq Hameed Karra while confirming the visit of Rahul Gandhi, said that the leader will be addressing the gatherings in both the divisions.
Rahul Gandhi will be visiting Jammu and Kashmir on September 04.
Karra said that Rahul Gandhi will be addressing the gatherings in Banihal in Jammu division and Dooru constituency in Kashmir as both the seats are going to the polls in the first phase of three-phased assembly elections.
He added that it would be the first visit of Rahul Gandhi with regard to the elections as earlier he had visited Jammu and Kashmir to address the party workers in both the divisions. “Alliance was no reason for his visit to Jammu and Kashmir earlier this month, but it is for the first time, Rahul Gandhi will be visiting J&K for election purposes,” Karra said.
Rahul has visited Jammu and Kashmir almost thrice since last year. He concluded his Bharat Jodo Yatra at Srinagar’s SK Stadium in January 2023 following which he visited Gulmarg in February 2023 and later addressed party workers in Srinagar as well as in Jammu earlier this month.
