Jammu, July 23: Demonstrating swift action and unwavering commitment during adverse weather conditions, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), in coordination with Home Guards (HG) and Civil Defence (CD) volunteers, played a crucial role in restoring essential services and enhancing public safety across Jammu division.
In Rajouri, SDRF teams assisted the Power Development Department (PDD) in restoring electricity supply to weather-affected areas. Despite strong river currents and challenging conditions, SDRF personnel safely facilitated the river crossing of PDD officers and technical staff, enabling them to reach affected locations and carry out restoration work. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Commandant SDRF Jammu, Mohamad Aslam (IPS), who commended the SDRF, HG and CD teams for their dedication and courage.
In another operation, an SDRF team from Battalion Headquarters Jammu promptly cleared a large tree that had fallen near Manda on the National Highway due to heavy weather, restoring smooth vehicular movement and ensuring commuter safety.
Meanwhile, with water levels rising in the River Chenab, an SDRF team was proactively deployed to Pragwal in the Akhnoor sector under the supervision of DySP Rohit Jamwal. The team has been tasked with monitoring the situation, conducting public awareness activities, maintaining operational readiness, and responding swiftly to any emergency arising from the increasing river flow.
