Mathura, October 24 – Seven violators involved in stubble burning in various tehsils of Mathura district were sent to jail yesterday , a press release said.
Five farmers were sent to jail on charges of disturbing the peace when they disputed with revenue department officials under Section 126/135/170 of BNSS , SDM Chhata Vaibhav Gupta said. Eight were bound down, and a FIR was registered against one violator, he added.

IN the village Khayra, falling under Mant tehsil, one tractor, involved in stubble burning, was seized, and a person was bound down in the Naujheel area. A Challan was issued under Section 151 of the BNS against three people in Goverdhan Tehsil, an Official release said.
Two persons were sent to jail in Tosh village, falling under Mathura Tehsil, SDM Sadar/ Joint Magistrate Abhinav J Jain said. Officials are searching for one person involved in the stubble burning incident, he added.
However, District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh appealed to farmers to resort to a scientific way of disposing of stubble rather than opting for burning, in a measure to control air pollution and save the environment, as the latter is detrimental to the environment. “We have zero tolerance for stubble burning,” officials are told to keep a watch and take strict action against violators, he added.
