New Delhi: Major Ashish Dahiya has played a pivotal role in the elimination of four hardcore terrorists and the detection and neutralization of
three Improvised Explosive Devices across five high-risk operations. On 02 June 2024, he led a meticulously planned counter-terror operation in a village in Pulwama district.During the initial search, the terrorists attempted to escape while firing indiscriminately and lobbing grenades.
Major Ashish Dahiya swiftly retaliated with precision, severely injured a fleeing terrorist. Amidst the intense firefight, terrorist hurled a grenade caused splinter injuries to his operational buddy.Without hesitation and with complete disregard for his own safety, Major Ashish Dahiya immediately crawled through hostile fire to evacuate his buddy
to safety.Thereafter, sensing an imminent threat to his troops, Major Ashish
towards the hiding terrorist. At an extreme close range, under heavy terrorist fire, Major Ashish Dahiya exhibited nerves of steel and neutralized the longestsurviving A++ category terrorist outfit of South Kashmir with precision fire. After elimination of initial threat, he further exposed himself to terrorist fire
and facilitated safe evacuation of his injured buddy, thereby saving his life. For his dauntless courage, selfless commitment to men and mission, audacious planning and intrepid execution of a critical operation, Major Ashish Dahiya is awarded “SHAURYA CHAKRA”.
