Sopore, February 01, 2026: Acting on reliable information, Sopore Police busted an incident of gambling at a public place in Shalpora, Dangerpora, and apprehended four persons involved in illegal card gambling.
A police team from Police Post Warpora swiftly raided the spot and apprehended the following individuals:
• Jahangir Ahmad Najar, S/O Sonaullah Najar
• Abdul Rashid Dar, S/O Ghulam Ahmad Dar
(All residents of Dangerpora)
During the raid, cash amounting to ₹14,500 along with playing cards was seized on the spot.
Accordingly, FIR No. 26/2026 under Section 13 of the Gambling Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore, and further investigation is underway.
Sopore Police reiterate their commitment to maintaining public order and taking firm action against unlawful activities at public places.
