The introduction of hi-tech e-buses in Srinagar has come as a relief to residents grappling with a shortage of public transport during the summer months. These electric buses, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, aim to provide a seamless and efficient public transport service to the people of Srinagar. Srinagar Smart City Ltd officials revealed their collaboration with the ‘Chalo’ app, allowing passengers to access all e-bus facilities at their fingertips via smartphones.

In a recent initiative, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched a fleet of 100 electric buses in Srinagar, with 75 serving intra-city routes and 25 connecting Srinagar with other districts. Each e-bus is outfitted with five cameras, a lift system for wheelchair-bound passengers, and emergency facilities. The buses also feature a climate control system catering to Srinagar’s varying weather conditions. Officials emphasized the transparency and convenience offered through mobile applications, with the ‘Chalo’ app facilitating ticketing services and real-time tracking of bus locations. In the coming days, passengers will have the ability to generate tickets, pay fares, and plan routes through the application. The comprehensive route plan covers 16 routes within Srinagar and beyond, ensuring that all areas are efficiently connected. This marks a significant step towards enhancing the urban mobility experience for the residents of Srinagar.
